Top Picks: Moisturizing Body Exfoliators
Happy 2018! Welcome to the first post of the year!
One of my new year resolutions is to take better care of my body. And in order to moisturize my skin properly, a good exfoliator is required. I learned they go hand-in-hand in college; my skin absorbs body lotion way better when I use an exfoliator regularly.
But of course in the world of body exfoliators, there are still ones that function (and smell) much better than others. In this post, I'm sharing some of my personal favorites.
Frank Body's Original Coffee Scrub
The first time I mentioned this product was over a year ago before my wedding, in the first chapter of my Wedding Prep series. I mainly started using this scrub for my back because I suffered from back acne, or what some people refer to as bacne. The scars on my back were dark and I tried several different methods to get rid of them.
This body scrub was the most effective, and I fell in love with it from the first use. The natural ingredients, Robusta coffee beans, almond oil, and sea salt, together removes dry skin and then nourishes at the same time. I only use this about twice a month now, mostly because of the mess it makes in my shower. Although, I do love how my bathroom smells like coffee afterward.
Exfoliating Sugar Cubes by HARPER + ARI
These sugar cubes look like they belong in a coffee, but yes, they are exfoliators. I think these are easily the cutest forms of exfoliators I've ever come across! I learned about Harper + Ari at a convention a few months ago when I walked past their sales booth. I stopped to talk to the brand representative because I thought their packaging was so creative and adorable.
The benefit of them shaped like a cube is how easy it is to use them: simply bring one cube into the shower with you! It is a great way to keep the other cubes untouched, clean and dry. The cubes come in different "flavors" and they all smell amazing (yes, I sniffed them all at the booth). I went with peach in the end, because I love the faint sweet scent.
I recommend breaking the cubes with water first before scrubbing it all over your body because it is much easier to use that way.
AÇAÍ Body Scrub by Natura Brasil
This product's key ingredient, Açaí, is rich in antioxidants and vitamins. The body scrub comes in creamy form and exfoliates gently. Thanks to the acai oil and olive oil in the formula, it moisturizes the skin after it buffs away dry skin. I like using this scrub on my shins, knees, and elbows. And because it doesn't dry my skin, I actually use it three, four times a week on damp skin. If you need a massive exfoliation session, use it directly on dry skin.
Natura Brasil is a Brazilian brand that uses ingredients from local communities in the Amazon region. Everything is rich in a
Coco Rose Coconut Oil Body Polish by Herbivore Botanicals
I think its safe to say Herbivore Botanicals' products are one of the most photogenic ones out there. And this body scrub works as nicely as it looks; I love that it is packaged in a reusable glass jar.
The body polish exfoliates gently and it is also highly moisturizing because the formula contains virgin coconut oil. The Moroccan rose gives the product a light rose scent (big bonus for me) but it also offers ingredients that fight cellular damage in the skin. I think this may be the reason why it works well on sensitive skin (my mother has very sensitive skin and uses it regularly), because of its anti-inflammatory properties.
I finished one jar earlier last year and stopped for a few months because I had other exfoliators to use. I've only just purchased another one during Sephora's Christmas sale.
Hopefully, you'll be able to give one or more of these exfoliators a try! Let us know if you liked it (or them) in the comment section below. Thank you for reading!
P.S. Tricia received the body scrub by Natura Brasil as a gift from the brand. Key To Radiance is not sponsored by or affiliated with any of the above-mentioned brands.
