#21DayMaskChallenge: Hyaluronic Acid Essence Facial Mask by Dr. Morita
Happy Thursday, everyone!
We’re back with another #21DayMaskChallenge! This time, we’re sharing the experience and results after using Dr. Morita’s Hyaluronic Acid Essence Facial Mask for 3 continuous weeks.
This brand may not be as well-known here in the U.S. but it is huge in Taiwan. It is also one of the more well-liked sheet mask brands among local mask lovers. So when I was in Taipei last month, I went ahead and bought boxes (literally, boxes) of various sheet masks by Dr. Morita.
Truth to be told, I initially traveled to Taipei for my brother-in-law’s wedding but ended up also saying goodbye to my grandfather. He left us just three days after I landed, so I extended my stay until his funeral. I was grateful that he gave me the chance to spend three more days with him, and allowed me to say goodbye in person. But as you can imagine, a lot of crying happened during this period. When everything was over, I realized the crying affected my skin in many ways.
My skin looked stressed, was dry and very, very dull. I needed something that would boost my moisture levels up, brighten my skin and maybe reduce the appearance of fine lines around my eyes. I decided to give this sheet mask a try after reading about it online and consulting the in-store beauty technician. Apparently, it is designed to target all three problems I had.
I used the sheet mask every day for 21 days from July 14 to Aug 4. Again, I maintained a simple and consistent beauty routine in hopes to better see the results of the sheet masks. In the morning, I would wash my face and put the sheet mask on for about 12-15 minutes. Once I remove the mask, I would massage the remaining serum into my skin, use a tissue to lightly pat my skin dry, and apply a moisturizer. If I’m leaving the house, the final step would be to finish it off with a sunscreen.
The evening skincare routine has simply been cleaning my face and applying a moisturizer or a night cream.
The sheet mask comes in individual packets with two layers; the second layer was a plastic sheet that is meant to be removed. The serum is fairly watery, odorless, clear and non-sticky. I kept these sheet masks in the fridge, so they feel extra cool on my face when I place them on.
This cotton sheet mask rips quite easily. The first time I used it, I accidentally gave it a big tear down the middle. It didn’t really affect me using it, but I had to remind myself to be more gentle when separating it from the plastic sheet.
About the Product
This moisturizing sheet mask is infused with Collagen, which helps with reducing the appearance of fine lines and fighting the first signs of aging. The concentrated Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid moisturizes your skin and keeps it hydrated, providing your skin with a dewier look.
I definitely felt like my skin became alive again about 10 days into the challenge. It was no longer looking dull, and my cheeks would stay moisturized throughout the day. The boosted hydration level was the most apparent, but I didn’t really see a difference in terms of minimizing the appearance of fine lines. Perhaps that’ll take longer to play an effect.
Personally, I think this mask suits anyone coming back from a long trip, after working long hours or suffering from lack of sleep. We all get tired-looking skin once a while, and this is a good mini pick-me-up.
I believe feeling better after getting back to New York also helped my skin to revive itself, so I wouldn’t give the sheet mask all the credits. We all know how our skin reflects our moods, too.
I hope you’ve enjoyed reading our third #21DayMaskChallenge post! If you have a sheet mask you’d like us to try, please feel free to leave a comment and let us know.
Thank you for reading!
