Radiance Discovery: Bubble Your Troubles Away with Pixi Glow-O₂

Radiance Discovery: Bubble Your Troubles Away with Pixi Glow-O₂

Happy Monday, dear Key To Radiance readers! Thirty minutes ago, I was feeling all kinds of stress — I had woken up to a to-do list that seemed to stretch on forever, a messy house with stuff everywhere, and a laundry basket that was overflowing with all the clothes from our holiday to Maui. I pretty much felt like a headless chicken until… I decided to give myself a quick masking break! And of all the face masks that I have, I found myself reaching for the perfect mask with all the right ingredients for this quickie masking sesh that is refreshing, with great results to boot, too — Pixi Skintreats’ Glow-O₂ Oxygen Mask.

If you haven’t read my previous article about the Pixi Glow Tonic, I’ll give you the executive history of Pixi Skintreats here: it was founded in 1999 by Petra Strand, aesthetician to the stars, with a loyal following worldwide including stars as diverse as Helena Christensen, Oprah Winfrey and Pixie Lott. The Glow-O₂ Oxygen Mask contains vitamins, ginseng, caffeine, probiotics and lactic acid for that rapid detoxification and power-boost dull and tired skin needs. That is exactly what I needed, I thought, since my skin pretty much mirrored how the rest of my body felt.

Key Ingredients Breakdown

Red Ginseng: contains many phytonutrients, and helps tone and brighten skin.
Caffeine: a powerful antioxidant that constricts blood vessels to de-puff skin and reduce redness.
Probiotic lactococcus ferment lysate: positively influences the speed and quality of epidermal growth, thus strengthening the skin’s moisture barrier and helps renew skin.
Lactic acid: an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that helps reduce acne breakouts and the appearance of wrinkles and other signs of aging by its ability to penetrate skin deeply to treat.

Pixi Glow-O₂ Oxygen Mask comes in a pump cylinder and is a semi-opaque gel that looks a lot like Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser. According to Pixi, the gel will bubble and might cause a slight tingling sensation when used. After applying to clean skin, you’re supposed to rinse off in 2-3 minutes — which is why it’s perfect for my quickie masking sesh. When I used it, the mask bubbled (think tiny, closely-packed champagne bubbles) almost immediately but it barely caused any tingling. Upon washing off, my skin looks rejuvenated, more even, and just brighter than before. Now I feel like I can tackle whatever comes my way!

I definitely recommend having a bottle of this on your top shelf for obvious reasons — 1) speed of getting a quality facial, 2) good results, 3) price (only $24, and you can get it from Target!), and 4) bubbles (who doesn't love bubbles?!). Having used this over the last month and a half, I can safely say that it’s a mask I reach for whenever my skin is feeling in need of quick pick-me-up that isn’t a 10-20 minute face masking session. And with personally discernible results, I’m definitely restocking this little baby. Buh-bye Monday blues, and hello glowing skin!
