Review: I Drank Taut Premium Collagen Replenishment Formula for 30 Days and Here's What Happened to My Skin
As you may know, one of Key To Radiance's new year resolutions for 2017 is to bring about glowing beauty from inside out. Since that resolution is in line with my personal one, I've been researching various edibles with claims of brighter, more supple skin that are backed by solid client reviews and clinical results. I decided on drinking collagen as the type of product to try because it seemed straightforward and fuss-free, a welcomed addition to my hectic life.
The concept of ingestible collagen is not new. The Chinese have, for centuries, been drinking bone broth — a natural source of high collagen concentration — to increase "youthfulness and vitality". Salma Hayek calls it her beauty secret. Jennifer Aniston adds a collagen peptide pill into her smoothie every morning. And a slew of other celebrities — the Kardashians, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kylie Minogue, etc. — all drink some form of collagen supplement on the reg. Instead of going through the hassle of making my own bone broth, I decided to try Taut Premium Collagen Replenishment Formula because of its longevity as one of the best drinking collagen products in Asia (for 10 years running in a highly competitive market!), its impressively high concentration of quality Type I marine collagen per bottle — 13 g, where most competitors have only 5 g or 10 g — and simply, the ease of opening a cute little bottle to drink, which takes all of 10 seconds.
I've been dutifully following the instructions of drinking a bottle 3-4 times a week before bedtime. And the results in these 4 weeks have been... interesting. At 30, I'm lucky enough that I don't have wrinkles yet, but I do get more freckles/hyperpigmentation if I don't sunscreen religiously, and my sensitive, dry skin occasionally suffers from eczematic inflammation. While Taut's drinking collagen has not exactly made the skin on my face tighter or brighter, nor has it magically erased my freckles, I haven't had any eczematic outbreaks since starting my regimen, and it has made the skin on my arms (of all places) better. My 2 years in business school, with the crazy New England weather, bad eating habits and stress, had left me with a mild case of keratosis pilaris, which is bumpy skin on the back of my arms that I could never seem to get rid of. But since I started drinking Taut Premium Collagen Replenishment Formula, the skin there feels smoother and tighter, which makes me hopeful that my annoying KP would be gone for good if I continue this regimen.
Taut claims that you can see and feel results in 4 to 8 weeks, and most people report seeing some form of benefit in 4. While I didn't quite see any improvements to facial skin, it has certainly been a pleasant surprise seeing and feeling the back of my arms go back to the way they were pre-B-school. While I'm still on the fence as to whether I should continue drinking Taut once I run out, the good news is that they do have regular sales on their website, which soothes the sting of the purchase. I bought the Miss Magnifique package in January (unfortunately no longer available) which included a month's supply of Taut drinking collagen, Taut Bright supplements (pills that lighten dark spots), and Taut collagen sheet masks — stay tuned for my reviews on the latter two products!
