Top Picks: Three Toners For Combination Skin
There's been discussions and doubts about the existence of toners in the beauty world. During the past year or two, I've come across many articles and blog posts talking about how taking toners out of the routine really doesn't make a difference because they're simply unnecessary. Well, I beg to differ.
Don't get me wrong: you'll survive without a toner. I understand the benefits of using it aren't as visible as other products, but in the long run, they do help to prep, protect, and moisturize your skin. I decided to skip the toner last winter, and realized it was harder for me to keep my skin moisturized throughout the day. There were times when I felt like the serum or moisturizer I'd use would "float" on the surface of my skin.
Once I started including the toner in my daily routine again, I tested out several different ones to see how my skin reacts to them over a period of time. And now, I'm sharing three of my favorites with you:
Organic Flowers Deep Rich Essence Toner by Whamisa
Whamisa's Organic Flowers Deep Rich Essense Toner conditions your skin and gives it a quick boost of hydration and is suitable for all skin types. It is infused with aloe vera and chrysanthemum extract and the formula also includes argan oil; the toner has a unique bouncy, a nearly jelly-like texture.
After removing makeup and double cleansing, I use my palms to gently pat the toner into my face as instructed, and complete my routine with a serum and moisturizer. I love that the toner alone gives my skin a dewy look.
Vita Energy Toner and Mist by Skin&Lab
This Vita Energy Toner and Mist by Skin&Lab is one of my top three picks mostly because of its packaging. Instead of using my palms or cotton pads, this toner is designed like a spray, which makes it so easy to use.
This toner keeps my skin hydrated throughout the day and has softened my skin over time. It has 5 kinds of vitamin ingredients and collagen, as well as hyaluronic acid, and is designed to help your skin absorb nutrition better. Its light citrus scent always makes me imagine my skin soaking in some vitamin C.
I love that I can use it as a mist throughout the day. It is usually left on my desk for me to use anytime I need it; I've also brought it along with me when I travel as well. This is recommended for people with sensitive skin types, and although my skin is not considered "sensitive," my cheeks become really dry and feels "weaker" in the winter. Hence, I find this bottle of toner-mist extremely helpful, and very handy.
Vitamin B5 Toner by Nature Republic
Nature Republic's Vitamin B5 Toner only just made it to the top three toners recently. I think this toner "wakes" my tired skin and refreshes it; it soothes my occasional rough cheeks from the dryness.
The formula is light and suitable for sensitive skin. I use this toner with a cotton pad and treat it like the last step of "cleansing."
The formula contains panthenol, which makes dry skin feel moisturized; it also helps protect your skin from harsh surroundings. I think this toner really calms my cheeks in heated spaces and simultaneously balances my oily t-zone area, keeping the shine in control.
