I’m from Honey Mask: Combining Nature’s Youth Elixir with Science
For me, great skin has always been a work-in-progress, and not simply genetics. In my late teens and early twenties, acne and eczema were the bane of my skin’s existence. Now, I don’t struggle with spots much, just the occasional cystic pimple from monthly hormonal fluctuations. But eczema, well, that's going to be my life-long battle. The onus is always on keeping my skin as hydrated and nourished as possible, in addition to keeping stress levels low and environmental fluctuations to a minimum.
Since I travel quite a bit, drastic environmental fluctuations are always going to be there — besides, the San Francisco Bay Area (where I live) has a plethora of microclimates and submicroclimates making environmental change ever constant — so my de facto focus is keeping my skin moisturized round the clock.
Enter I’m from Honey Mask, a rather wondrous marriage of honey — Nature’s youth elixir — and Korean’s cutting-edge cosmetics R&D. This honey mask has a whopping 38.7% real honey (not extract) from Korea’s Jirisan, a national park and the second-tallest mountain in South Korea. (Just imagine how clean and untouched this place probably is.) In most other face masks, water is the primary ingredient; here, water is the 17th ingredient, after various seed oils (i.e. Argan, Jojoba, Macadamia, Hazel, etc.) and Snail Secretion Filtrate. The deep occlusive effects of raw, pristine wild honey chockfull of vitamins and minerals, combined with the soothing, emollient, and regenerative properties of the seed oils and Snail Secretion Filtrate, makes for an extremely hydrating and nourishing mask. On top of that, ingredients such as Aloe Barbadensis Leaf water, Propolis extract, Bamboo water, and Grapefruit extract help to lock in moisture and nourish skin while accelerating the epidermal skin cell turnover process. The end result is a youthful, refreshed skin that is also plumped and glowing.
I’ve been using this mask every night for 8 days (including now as I write this article) and I’m already seeing some improvements! The most noticeable ones are:
- Softer and smoother skin
- Skin tone that is more even – less redness and lighter pigmentation marks overall: the week before I started using this mask I was incredibly stressed out, resulting in my skin acting up with random spots, but they’ve cleared up rather well!
- Radiance: it is as though I’m using Yves Saint Laurent’s Touche Eclat Blur Perfector, when it’s simply clean skin… And this makes me really happy.
From what I heard about using honey as a face mask, I should really see the positive results amplified if I use it for a protracted period (read: months). My biggest hope is that the I'm from Honey Mask will eventually lighten my freckles enough that they seemingly disappear. Fingers crossed! I’ll be sure to update this article on those results, so watch this space.
I purchased my I’m from Honey Mask from Wishtrend as part of a kit for $47.88. (The standalone price is $37.90.) It comes with a silicon brush — the reason why I got the kit instead of just the mask — which I highly recommend for the best fuss-free application. You can use the brush for other face masks too!
