Oh, Honey: F/W 2017 Honey Product Round-up Part 2 — Hair

Oh, Honey: F/W 2017 Honey Product Round-up Part 2 — Hair

For Part 2 of the Honey Special, I’d like to highlight 2 products that have been doing wonders for my hair. I have long hair past the middle of my back, and I often get it styled with heating tools because it’s rather unruly if I didn’t. And anyone worth their braids would know that heat-styling your hair can subject it to brittleness and damage easily, if there weren’t proper products to nourish and protect the hair shaft. These star products are actually the brainchild of social media influencer Negin Mirsalehi, who shot to international acclaim with her fashion posts on Instagram, as well as her long luscious locks. Mirsalehi grew up with a beekeeper father and a hairstylist mother, hence she integrated her father’s all-natural honey with trade secrets from her mother to develop Gisou, a line of honey-based hair care products.

Gisou Honey Infused Hair Oil, €74,00

I love how the Gisou Honey Infused Hair Oil looks and smells — it’s practically golden manna, encased in a sturdy glass dropper bottle that spells luxury and quality (think Chanel’s No. 5 vibes). The consistency is viscous, just like its key ingredient — honey. And it smells seductive and sweet — a dash of flowers and white musk — not unlike what I’d imagine Aphrodite would smell like. I use it post-shower after towel drying, when hair is damp but not dripping wet, and after styling. It’s pretty effective, because I feel that my curls hold for a longer period of time and my hair ends look fresh even the day after styling.

It comes in a beautiful pink box with a floral detail, and contains a booklet on how it was made, filled with tantalizing visuals of Mirsalehi at work with the hives.

Gisou Propolis Infused Heat Protecting Spray, €36,00

This Heat Protecting Spray smells a lot more like honey, which is great because it masks the typical “hair spray smell” that you often get from hair styling products. According to the package it protects hair from heat up to 230ᵒC/446ᵒF and contains a UV-filter to prevent sun damage — I’ve noticed stronger, shinier, more long-lasting curls after I’ve used the Gisou Propolis Infused Heat Protecting Spray in conjunction with its sister product, the honey oil.

Key To Radiance is not affiliated with or sponsored by Negin Mirsalehi or Gisou.
